Create and print your bookmark

Bookmark Printing

When creating and printing a bookmark, several parameters must be considered, such as size, substrate and finish, depending on the result your business wants to achieve.

Bookmarks are double-sided printed paper strips used to mark pages without losing your place. They are also widely used as promotional materials and corporate gifts, for example during Sant Jordi or World Book Day, making them an ideal branded giveaway to accompany a book.

Bookmark size

Bookmark size can vary depending on the book format. The standard size is usually arranged on a 200×55 mm sheet, where 5 bookmarks are imposed. Custom sizes can also be produced, such as 50×180 mm or 85×236 mm, adapting the bookmark to your specific requirements.

Types of substrates for bookmark printing

When printing a bookmark, choosing the right substrate is essential. Some of the most commonly used options include:

  • Coated paper (gloss or matte): Paper with a surface treatment that improves ink reception and print quality, thanks to mineral and organic coating layers.
  • Offset paper (uncoated paper): Standard paper used in office printing. It is more porous and offers high ink absorption.
  • Recycled paper: Produced from recycled fibres, available in different whiteness levels.
  • Creative paper: Designed for a wide range of business and commercial applications, offering multiple finishes, textures, colours and special effects to enhance visual impact.
  • Graphic board: Double-sided coated board with a higher thickness than standard coated paper, providing greater rigidity.

It is recommended to use a grammage between 200 and 350 gsm to achieve optimal quality.

Finishing options

In addition to substrate and grammage, finishes play a key role in the final result:

  • Matte lamination (BOPP): Non-reflective finish, resistant to light, chemicals and abrasion.
  • Gloss lamination (BOPP): Transparent finish with high visual impact and enhanced colour vibrancy, also resistant to external factors.
  • Soft-touch lamination: Provides a tactile, premium feel and excellent adhesion for additional finishes such as varnishes or stamping.
  • Selective UV varnish: Application of varnish on specific areas to highlight design elements.
  • Foil stamping: Technique that applies a metallic film using pressure and heat, typically in gold or silver finishes.
