Sustainable publications: eco-friendly printing

Eco-Friendly Printing Solutions

In our daily lives, we are surrounded by publications of all kinds, with different formats and purposes depending on their content.

These publications can be produced using substrates (printing materials) that help reduce environmental impact, as many papers used today are recycled and new recycled paper options continue to be developed.

Latex inks, composed of pigments and resin (polymers) dispersed in a water-based solution with added humectants, allow the ink to adhere to the printing substrate. Once dry, the resin forms a flexible and durable film.

These inks offer many of the advantages of solvent-based inks without negatively affecting the environment, health or safety. They provide durability, versatility and quality, and are considered eco-friendly because they are primarily water-based and do not generate odours or toxic waste once dried.

What types of publications are there?

Publications include a range of printed materials that, depending on their characteristics and functions, are classified into different categories. The most common are:

  • Catalogues. Designed for professional use, presenting a company’s products and services. They typically include product images, technical specifications and available ranges (formats, sizes, colours, etc.).
  • Magazines. Publications that contain editorial content of interest to readers. The paper weight of inner pages is usually lighter than that of the cover.
  • Brochures. One of the most effective formats for promoting a business or product, offering multiple design and format options.

Each of these publications can be printed on recycled paper in different weights, enabling more sustainable production.

Artyplan promotes the use of sustainable resources

At Artyplan, we are aware of the environmental impact of industrial activity. For this reason, we promote the use of sustainable resources across our production processes. We care for and respect the environment. We were among the first in Catalonia to operate the HP Latex R2000 large-format printer, a fully eco-friendly and efficient solution. We continuously invest in advanced sustainable printing technologies and environmentally responsible production processes, such as latex inks and UV technology, which do not generate harmful waste.
