At Artyplan, since 2002 we have specialised in the digitisation of historical archives and rare books, as well as their storage, consultation, preservation and dissemination. We provide all the equipment, techniques and resources required to ensure an agile and accurate service.

We maintain an ecological commitment throughout the entire production process. The machinery and inks we use do not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and we offer sustainable, certified materials with reduced environmental impact to our clients.

The division responsible for historical document digitisation, Artyplan Document, became within just five years of its creation the company managing the highest number of cultural digitisation projects in Catalonia, according to a report by the Generalitat de Catalunya. This success has also extended to the private sector.

What types of archives can we digitise?

We handle all types of documentation: image digitisation, graphic, audiovisual, text and audio digitisation:

TEXTUAL DOCUMENTATION: Digitisation of written documents such as letters, books, delivery notes, files, invoices, reports, manuscripts, parchments, magazines or historical press.
GRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION: Posters, drawings, glass plates or plans.
AUDIOVISUAL DOCUMENTATION: Photographs, microfilms, negatives, VHS, Betacam or Super 8.
AUDIO DOCUMENTATION: Cassette tapes or LP records.
DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION: Databases, metadata, digital objects and cultural, economic or administrative management software.

DIGITAL PRESERVATION

Increasing amounts of knowledge are consulted and stored in digital format. Institutions, public bodies and companies need to guarantee the integrity and long-term access to the digital sources where their information, knowledge and heritage are stored.
Digital preservation is an active task throughout the entire information lifecycle.
Artyplan works with Libsafe, a tool based on the OAIS model and ISO 14721 standard, to design and implement digital preservation plans.

OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION AND METADATA

We apply OCR processes (Optical Character Recognition) for character recognition, barcode reading, mark detection, watermark embedding and metadata generation: METS, PREMIS, ALTO, EXIF, IPTC, DUBLIN CORE, XML, etc.
Metadata provides descriptive information about the generated data and enables its organisation and rapid retrieval. It requires a high level of expertise, as numerous international standards and regulations must be complied with.

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT

The experience we have gained allows us to provide everything from consultancy to the management of physical and electronic document workflows through proprietary or client tools (ERP, EDMS, ERMS, digital repositories, etc.).
We integrate seamlessly into your organisation to undertake specific projects or provide ongoing BPO services.
We market our own digital archive solution, ARTYDOC, a web-based document management system that helps organise your company’s documents.
Software designed for the classification, description, dissemination and management of electronic documents, acting as a digital archive for institutions.

MANAGEMENT:

Define user roles by deciding who participates and how within your digitised archive. Audit and track all recorded actions thanks to full system traceability.

Create customised statistical reports and leverage your data according to your business needs.

CLASSIFICATION:

Import your classification scheme into the system and facilitate access to electronic documents through hierarchical multi-level descriptions. ARTYDOC is compatible with NODAC and ISAD(G).

DESCRIPTION:

Describe and represent electronic documents in a clear and structured way according to your needs. Provide digital objects with contextual, organisational and content information.

DISSEMINATION:

Disseminate your institution’s digital heritage by deciding which content you want to publish online. Create and interact with your own online user community.
