We are pleased to announce that our CEO, Ignasi Pietx, has been appointed President of Comertia, the association of family-owned retail businesses in Catalonia. The appointment, confirmed during the General Assembly in Barcelona, reflects the dedication and commitment Ignasi has demonstrated throughout his career.

Comertia brings together 59 companies, representing 120 retail brands with 4,500 points of sale. These companies generate 40,000 direct jobs and achieve an annual turnover of €9 billion.

Committed leadership for the future of retail

Ignasi Pietx, CEO of Artyplan since 1993, has been actively involved in various business organisations. He has served as Vice President of Comertia, member of Femcat, board member of the CATT Tourism Business & Planning cluster, and partner of Círculo de Economía. An economist by training, he began his career as General Manager of Textil TC.

Under his leadership, Artyplan has grown significantly, becoming a benchmark in the sector. His appointment as President of Comertia recognises his leadership skills and his vision for the future of retail.

Objectives and priorities

In his new role, Ignasi Pietx will focus on several key areas for the development of the retail sector. His main objectives include:

  • Strengthening organic growth and collaboration among Comertia members: Significantly increasing the number of Comertia members, particularly across Catalonia, and fostering stronger internal relationships and activity within the association.
  • Training and talent development: Promoting continuous training and talent management within the sector, ensuring that family-owned businesses have well-prepared professionals to address current challenges.
  • Innovation and institutional partnerships: Driving innovation through new technologies and business models, while establishing strategic alliances with institutions and other associations that support the sector.
  • Fair taxation and reduced bureaucracy: Advocating for a more equitable tax framework and the simplification of administrative procedures to facilitate growth and competitiveness within the retail sector.
  • Comertia Joves: Encouraging the incorporation and professional development of new generations within family businesses to ensure a smooth generational transition.
