The evolution of the print production sector has been constant since its origins. For many years, the focus has been on improving tools and technology to become more effective and efficient.

In recent years, print providers have also focused on ensuring that both the materials used for printing and the inks applied are environmentally responsible.

At Artyplan, we have been committed to our environment for years. As a result, we have incorporated increasingly sustainable substrates into our product portfolio, such as PVC-free eco-friendly vinyl.

<h2><strong>What is self-adhesive vinyl? </strong></h2>
<p>Self-adhesive vinyl is a thin plastic film made up of three parts:</p>
<ul>
<li>Film, manufactured in PVC, which can be monomeric or polymeric</li>
<li>Adhesive layer, which enables bonding to the surface</li>
<li>Silicone release liner, which supports the vinyl until application</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>What types of vinyl are there? </strong></h3>
<p>In the visual communication sector, there are two main types of vinyl: printed vinyl and cut vinyl. Below is an explanation of each: </p>
<ul>
<li><a href=Printed vinyl: These are colour-printed vinyls. They can be printed in CMYK, allowing for images, graphics or text in multiple colours.

  • Cut vinyl: These are vinyls where the design is a single colour. They are cut using a plotter (cutting machine) that follows a predefined path. Once cutting is completed, excess material is removed and the design is transferred using application tape.
  • Go green: Eco-friendly vinyl

    Like all print substrates, vinyl has evolved to become increasingly environmentally responsible. PVC-free vinyl is therefore the best alternative for applications where sustainability is a priority.

    This graphic solution consists of printed or cut vinyl without PVC, combined with a water-based adhesive, offering an ideal option for projects with environmental awareness.

    The advantages of using these vinyls are:

    • PVC-free print substrate, with no chlorine or sulphates
    • High transparency; the film is practically invisible
    • Can be removed without leaving adhesive residue
    • Good abrasion resistance, comparable to PVC films
    • Flame-retardant properties

    Switch to greener solutions with Artyplan and apply eco-friendly vinyl across your shop windows, doors, restaurants and offices. Request information from our print production centres or our Customer Service team.
