Not all inks enable sustainable printing. Thanks to our HP Latex inks, we can offer a more environmentally responsible print production. This is supported by FSC certification for forest protection, as well as the Endesa energy certification, which guarantees that 100% of our electricity consumption comes from renewable sources.
Why are conventional printer inks not environmentally friendly?
Most printers in use today rely on dry toner powder, made up of very small plastic particles. As we know, plastics are produced from fossil fuels. During printing, these particles must be heated until they melt, which consumes energy. Finally, once fused to the paper, plastic reduces recyclability, meaning it does not contribute positively to environmental protection.
Eco-friendly inks
We are experiencing an ongoing digital transformation in which most work and documents are digitised. This is positive for the environment, but printing remains necessary. As mentioned above, conventional inks can be incompatible with the current sustainability transition.
This is not a passing trend. It responds to regulations and environmental criteria driven by governments, as well as urgent challenges such as climate change, deforestation, plastics and microplastics in the oceans. It is therefore likely that eco-friendly inks will become the standard in the near future.
Sustainable LATEX inks
The LATEX inks we use in our printers are composed of resin (polymers) and pigments suspended in a water-based solution with added humectants. This allows the ink to adhere to the print substrate and, once dry, form a flexible and resistant film.
Water-based inks offer many advantages. They do not generate hazardous atmospheric pollutants or harmful waste, which simplifies ventilation, storage and transport requirements.
As they are primarily water-based, they do not produce odours or toxic residues when drying. With eco-friendly inks, you can achieve the same quality and durability as with conventional inks, while improving environmental impact, safety and health conditions.
Applications of eco-friendly ink
As you can see, eco-friendly ink can be used in the same way as conventional ink and enables the printing of:
Exterior signage and event graphics
- Textiles
- Posters and advertising
- Print and cut graphics
- Backlit displays
And much more
Are you ready to move towards sustainable printing? Protecting the planet is straightforward, and your business can continue printing your materials while being environmentally responsible.
